Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to organize a special weekly ‘Janata Chaupal’ at the block level in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh to ensure swift resolution of public grievances. The Chief Minister emphasized that complaints should not merely be disposed of formally, but resolved effectively on the ground.
During a law-and-order and administrative review meeting held via video conferencing in Lucknow, the Chief Minister instructed district magistrates, police officials, and administrative officers to establish direct communication with citizens and address their problems on the spot. Under the new arrangement, one chaupal will be held every week in each development block, with the mandatory presence of senior administrative and police officials.
The state government clarified that issues related to revenue and land disputes, domestic violence, non-registration of police complaints, illegal extortion, and denial of benefits under government welfare schemes will be given priority during these public grievance meetings. Complaints linked to pensions, ration cards, housing schemes, and Ayushman Bharat will also be addressed immediately.
The Chief Minister warned officials against limiting grievance redressal mechanisms such as IGRS and the CM Helpline to mere paperwork. He noted that in many cases officials upload responses and close complaints without actually solving the problems at the grassroots level, adding that such an approach will no longer be tolerated.
During the meeting, directions were also issued regarding law-and-order arrangements for the upcoming Ganga Dussehra and Bakrid festivals. The Chief Minister instructed officials not to allow animal sacrifice in public places or prayers on roads, and ordered strict action against illegal slaughterhouses and open meat sales. Authorities were also asked to increase peace committee meetings and flag marches in sensitive districts.
Additionally, the Chief Minister directed officials to launch a special drive against vehicles without number plates, intensify action against illegal mining, and speed up the campaign against land mafias. Divisional commissioners, district magistrates, police commissioners, IGs, SSPs, and SPs from across the state attended the review meeting.
