Weekly ‘Janata Chaupal’ to Be Held Across All 75 Districts of Uttar Pradesh, CM Yogi Issues Strict Directives

Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to organize a special weekly “Janata Chaupal” at the block level across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh to ensure swift and effective resolution of public grievances. The Chief Minister stressed that complaints should not merely be disposed of formally, but resolved meaningfully at the grassroots level.

During a law-and-order and administrative review meeting held via video conferencing in Lucknow, the Chief Minister instructed district magistrates, police officials, and administrative officers to establish direct communication with citizens and address their issues on the spot. Under the new arrangement, one chaupal will be conducted every week in each development block, with the mandatory presence of senior administrative and police officials.

The state government clarified that issues related to revenue and land disputes, domestic violence, non-registration of police complaints, illegal extortion, and denial of benefits under government welfare schemes will receive priority during these grievance redressal meetings. Complaints linked to pensions, ration cards, housing schemes, and Ayushman Bharat will also be addressed promptly.

The Chief Minister cautioned officials against treating grievance redressal platforms such as IGRS and the CM Helpline as mere paperwork exercises. He observed that in many instances officials upload responses and close complaints without actually resolving problems on the ground, adding that such practices will no longer be tolerated.

During the meeting, directives were also issued regarding law-and-order arrangements for the upcoming Ganga Dussehra and Bakrid festivals. The Chief Minister instructed officials not to permit animal sacrifice in public places or prayers on roads and ordered strict action against illegal slaughterhouses and open meat sales. Authorities were also asked to intensify peace committee meetings and conduct flag marches in sensitive districts.

Additionally, the Chief Minister directed officials to launch a special drive against vehicles without number plates, intensify action against illegal mining, and accelerate the campaign against land mafias. Divisional commissioners, district magistrates, police commissioners, IGs, SSPs, and SPs from across the state attended the review meeting.
