We want to be transparent with travel agents: Puri

At a meeting held at the Ambassador Hotel in New Delhi, hosted by the North India chapter of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) on April 26, Manish Puri, Head of Sales at Air India, outlined the airline’s ambitious strategy for a transformative revival. Amid a gathering of TAAI members, Puri discussed Air India’s comprehensive five-year transformation plan, which includes significant aircraft orders and an emphasis on enhanced training and service transparency.

Puri emphasized the airline’s commitment to openness with its travel partners. “We want to be transparent with travel agents so that they can further educate consumers on the kind of service they can expect depending on the aircraft they are boarding,” he stated. This approach is part of a broader initiative to improve customer experience and operational efficiency as the airline powers through its revival phase.

A major highlight of Air India’s revival strategy is the establishment of a new, state-of-the-art aviation training academy located in Gurugram, Haryana. Spanning an impressive 600,000 square feet, this facility has been dubbed the largest of its kind in South Asia. “The training academy will not only train pilots but also cabin crew, ground handling, engineering, and security staff, among others,” Puri explained.

The academy is designed to be a cornerstone in forging a new culture at Air India, equipping staff with the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the demands of modern aviation and heightened customer expectations. The comprehensive training provided at the academy is expected to enhance the overall quality of service and operational standards of the airline, playing a crucial role in its strategic overhaul.

With these developments, Air India is not only looking to revitalize its fleet and services but also to contribute significantly to the aviation training landscape in the region.
