The Madhya Pradesh government’s initiatives to enhance rural tourism via ambitious projects spearheaded by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) have once again received recognition from SKOCH. In a reflection to its effective strategies that have yielded positive outcomes, MPTB was honoured with an award in the tourism category for its work in promoting rural tourism projects, at the 96th SKOCH Summit held in New Delhi recently.

Sheo Shekhar Shukla, the Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture and Managing Director of the Tourism Board, extended his thanks and praised the efforts of the Tourism Board’s officials and partnering organizations involved in the Rural Tourism scheme for earning this accolade.

Shukla remarked that the award serves as a motivation for the department to pursue rural tourism projects with even greater zeal and dedication. The award was accepted on behalf of MPTB by Director Manoj Singh during a ceremony at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.

In an ambitious move, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board has identified 100 villages across six cultural zones of the state for development under the Rural Tourism Scheme, with initiatives already underway in about 30 villages. Shukla shared his enthusiasm about the notable increase in visitor numbers, especially from international tourists.
