Sentosa and STIC Travel Group Forge Partnership for Sustainable Education

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signed

Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and STIC Travel Group (STIC) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing Sentosa’s reputation as a sustainable destination for the Indian market. This one-year partnership will focus on developing innovative educational experiences for Indian students, showcasing Sentosa’s commitment to sustainability and its rich ecosystems.

The MoU represents a collaborative effort to create immersive learning opportunities that use Sentosa’s unique environment as a living classroom, fostering a deeper appreciation for sustainability. The initiative aims to position Sentosa as a key destination for leisure, business, and education, with a curriculum that emphasizes important themes such as the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, carbon footprint reduction, and biodiversity conservation.

This partnership aligns with STIC’s broader objective of promoting educational tourism in Singapore, providing Indian students with the chance to explore the country’s heritage and sustainability initiatives through interactive learning experiences.

A highlight of this collaboration is the upcoming “Unchartered Sentosa” tour, set to launch in November 2024. This program is designed to empower students to become advocates for environmental change in their communities, offering hands-on exploration of sustainability through a variety of engaging activities.

“Our partnership with SDC perfectly aligns with STIC’s mission to provide innovative and meaningful travel experiences,” said Isha Goyal, CEO of STIC Travel Group. “By merging our expertise in educational tourism with Sentosa’s exceptional sustainable practices, we’re creating a unique offering that broadens students’ global perspectives while equipping them with practical knowledge to promote sustainability at home.”

Thien Kwee Eng, CEO of SDC, remarked, “This partnership with STIC marks a significant step in our efforts to promote sustainable tourism through education, especially within this growing segment. By harnessing Sentosa’s ecological diversity, we’re creating a valuable platform for students to gain hands-on experience in environmental stewardship. We’re excited to develop unique itineraries with STIC that highlight Sentosa’s commitment to sustainability and offer enriching educational opportunities.”
