Goa Tourism’s presence at ITB Asia 2024 that took place between October 23 to 25 in Singapore has proven to be a major success, marked by high-profile visits, impactful discussions, and extensive international networking. Led by Suneel Anchipaka, Director of Tourism, along with Gavin Dias, General Manager of Marketing at GTDC, and Dhiraj Wagle, Deputy Director of Tourism, the Goa delegation underscored the state’s dedication to expanding its reach in the global tourism landscape.
The Goa Tourism Pavilion welcomed distinguished guests, including Sanyam Joshi, First Secretary (Economic), and Ashwani Kumar, Head of Chancery from the High Commission of India in Singapore. During their visit, Goa’s tourism officials highlighted the region’s regenerative tourism initiatives, hinterland experiences, and burgeoning segments like MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and wedding tourism, which collectively aim to diversify and enrich Goa’s tourism offerings.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Suneel Anchipaka commented, “Our participation at ITB Asia 2024 has been immensely productive, allowing us to present Goa’s unique tourism experiences and forge meaningful connections on a global scale. A significant milestone during the event was a strategic meeting with GB Srithar, Head of Tourism Services at VFS Global. Discussions centered on boosting connectivity and streamlining the travel experience for international tourists, positioning Goa as a major destination within the Asian tourism market. These efforts are expected to increase ease of travel to Goa, opening doors for international tourism growth and furthering the state’s appeal to a diverse array of travelers.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte praised the delegation’s achievements, stating, “ITB Asia 2024 has been an invaluable platform to showcase Goa’s commitment to responsible and regenerative tourism. Our interactions and discussions, such as the meeting with VFS Global, are aimed at creating a seamless travel experience for international visitors and fostering partnerships that will lead to long-term growth.”
