“Ethos of Peace and Harmony, an integral part for Nation Building” is the theme of first-ever Bodoland Mohotsav scheduled to take place at SAI Indira Gandhi Stadium (KD Jadav) in New Delhi on November 15 and 16.
The two-day festival will be a colourful display of the culture, literature, language, food and tourism potential of Assam’s Bodoland region. The festival, organized by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Dularai Boro Harimu Afad (DuBHA), and Gandhi Hindustani Sahitya Sabha (GHSS), with support from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government, also commemorates the historic Bodo Peace Accord signed on January 27, 2020, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“The Mahotsav celebrates the end of decades of conflict and loss, a transformation made possible by the Bodo Peace Accord, which has since inspired similar peace initiatives across Assam and the Northeast,” ABSU President Dipen Boro stated at a news conference in New Delhi on Sunday. Boro highlighted the Mahotsav as a testament to the peace and unity that has flourished since the accord, transforming Bodoland from a region of strife to one of stability and prosperity.
The Bodoland Mahotsav will host a range of sessions, including an open session titled “The Rich Bodo Culture, Tradition, and Literature Contributing to Indian Heritage.” This session will explore the unique contributions of Bodo culture to Indian heritage and address social, economic, political, and environmental issues relevant to the Bodoland region.
