India Convention Promotion Bureau elects new leadership for the term 2024-2026

The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has announced its newly elected office bearers for the 2024-26 term, marking a fresh chapter in the organization’s mission to establish India as a premier global destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). The new leadership team was elected unopposed at the Annual General Meeting held on October 29, 2024, in New Delhi.

The ICPB’s new office bearers include Chander Mansharamani as Vice-Chairperson, Sudeep Sarcar as Honorary Secretary, and Amit Saroj continuing as Honorary Treasurer. This team brings a wealth of expertise in the MICE industry and a strategic vision to promote India’s MICE potential on the global stage.

Chander Mansharamani outlined his vision to align ICPB’s operations with international standards, emphasizing the need for government support for operational expenses and financial aid for conference organizers, particularly for international bids. “Our goal is to transform ICPB into a truly pan-India organization that reaches every region of the country, engaging more regional players in the MICE industry,” Mansharamani said. “By expanding our membership base nationwide, we’re paving the way for a stronger, unified approach. This strategy will ensure that ICPB’s initiatives are inclusive and reflect the diversity and energy of India’s MICE sector.”

Mansharamani also shared his commitment to a more aggressive promotion of India as a top MICE destination, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism. This includes increasing ICPB’s presence at international trade fairs, securing financial backing for roadshows within India and overseas, and dedicating a separate advertising budget for MICE.

Sarcar, newly appointed Honorary Secretary, brings over two decades of experience in the conventions and events industry. Known for managing national award-winning venues and organizing large-scale events such as Bharat Tex and Bharat Mobility, Sarcar plans to steer ICPB toward becoming an independent, robust secretariat. “My vision for ICPB is to make it an independent, strong secretariat that can function independently with the guidance of a diverse board and stakeholders across the MICE sector,” Sarcar stated. “Through proactive alignment with government policies and industry consultation, we aim to enhance India’s position on the global MICE ranking.”

Saroj expressed confidence in the new team’s commitment to raising India’s profile as a MICE hub, noting, “Aligning with the vision outlined by the new Chairperson at the AGM, we are confident of raising the bar of India’s positioning on the global landscape and strengthening ICPB’s resources to drive new initiatives that attract international association meetings.”
