Finnair has begun a major cabin upgrade for its Embraer fleet to improve passenger comfort on short-haul European routes. The first refurbished Embraer cabin is complete, with all 12 aircraft expected to be updated by spring 2026. Seven planes will be renovated by winter 2024–2025, and the remaining five by winter 2025–2026.
The refreshed interiors feature a cohesive design inspired by Finnair’s wide-body fleet and Schengen lounge, with a calming dark blue, grey, and wood-accented color scheme. The new cabin includes upgraded seating, with rows 1–9 offering additional comfort through enhanced cushioning and slight recline, while rows 10 and beyond remain fixed.
Aiming to lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, Finnair has also lightened both the seats and carpeting, reducing each plane’s weight by approximately 150 kg. The upgrades reflect Finnair’s commitment to both passenger comfort and sustainability on short European routes.
