Deep Parv 2024: A Celebration of Goa’s Rich Cultural Heritage

The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, successfully hosted Deep Parv 2024 at the scenic Art Park in Porvorim on December 15, 2024. The event celebrated Goa’s vibrant cultural heritage, fostering unity and community engagement.

The celebrations were inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, and Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of the Department of Tourism. The event saw active participation from local representatives, including Smt. Sonia Pednekar (Socorro sarpanch)Shri Swapnil Chodankar (Penha de Franca sarpanch)Shri Govind Govekar (Aldona sarpanch), and panchayat members from Penha de Franca, Socorro, Salvador do Mundo, and Aldona. Senior officials from the Department of Tourism, including Shri Rajesh KaleShri Gavin DiasShri Deepak Narvekar, and Shri Sagar Agni, also attended.

The day began with vibrant community competitions such as Dance, Fancy Dress, Cookery, Rangoli, and Poster-Making, which showcased the creativity and talent of participants.

Evening performances highlighted Goa’s cultural essence, including:

  • Ganapati Sthavan by the Nirbhaya Bhav Group
  • Konkani dance performances
  • Kunbi folk dances by Girish Kala Sanskriti Mandal Sanvordem
  • A captivating Fire Dance and live Bollywood performances

During the event, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte emphasized the importance of regenerative tourism, stating, “Deep Parv showcases Goa’s cultural identity while fostering sustainable tourism, community engagement, and local talent.”

Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, added, “This festival not only preserves Goa’s traditions but also provides a platform for artists, encouraging community participation and heritage preservation.”

The Tourism Department also felicitated notable community contributors, including Shreya KambliSangeeta HadfadkarSunaina PednekarShobha VazarkarShailaza GaunsSawani Shetye, and Yogesh Kapdi, recognizing their dedication to Goa’s progress and tradition.

The event concluded with enthralling live music and dance performances, leaving attendees with lasting memories of Goa’s cultural vibrance.
