
Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has launched daily direct flights from Mumbai to Phuket, Thailand, marking its official entry into Southeast Asia. The inaugural flight took off on September 20, 2025, from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 07:45 hrs IST and landed at Phuket International Airport at 14:35 hrs ICT. The launch underscores Phuket’s growing popularity among Indian travelers and highlights Akasa Air’s commitment to expanding its global network with Thailand as a key market in its international growth strategy.
The maiden flight was flagged off with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony at Mumbai Airport in the presence of Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, and Naarayan T V, Chief Marketing Officer, Akasa Air, along with leadership from Mumbai International Airport Limited. A commemorative boarding pass was presented to the first passenger, while all travelers received a warm welcome on arrival in Phuket.
Strengthening its Thailand operations further, Akasa Air will introduce daily direct flights from Bengaluru to Phuket starting October 1, 2025, making the island more accessible for leisure and business travelers from India’s major metros.
