In a major move towards international expansion, Akasa Air is all set to launch its maiden international flight service on the Kochi–Jeddah route, starting June 29, 2025. The airline will initially operate two special flights on June 29 and July 6, followed by regular scheduled services beginning July 13. From then, Akasa Air will operate four weekly round-trip flights on Saturdays, Sundays (twice), and Mondays, marking a strategic entry into the high-demand Gulf market.
The new international route will be served using Akasa’s fuel-efficient Boeing 737 Max aircraft, featuring a 186-seat all-economy layout. Flight schedules are designed to cater to the needs of both business and religious travellers. On Saturdays and Mondays, flights will depart Kochi at 6:10 PM and land in Jeddah at 9:55 PM, with the return leg arriving back in Kochi at 6:45 AM. Sunday operations will include two services: a morning flight departing Kochi at 3:00 AM and returning at 7:45 AM, and an evening departure at 8:30 PM with arrival back the following day at 10:10 AM.
Akasa Air’s entry into the Kochi–Jeddah corridor reflects its strategic focus on strengthening India–Middle East air connectivity. The route has been introduced to meet growing demand from Kerala’s large expatriate population in Saudi Arabia, especially those travelling for work and religious pilgrimages. With competitive fares and a no-frills approach, the airline aims to offer affordable and reliable international travel for cost-conscious passengers.
This latest addition to Akasa’s network complements its existing Middle East destinations, including Abu Dhabi and Doha. Kochi, emerging as a key Tier 2 aviation hub, is playing a central role in the airline’s global growth plan. By leveraging its efficient fleet and lean operating model, Akasa Air is positioning itself as a strong player in the expanding India–Saudi Arabia aviation market.
The Kochi–Jeddah launch comes at a time when international travel from India to Saudi Arabia is witnessing a steady rise. With this service, Akasa Air not only broadens its global footprint but also contributes to enhancing bilateral connectivity and easing travel for thousands of Indians flying to the Gulf each year.
