In a strategic move to promote monsoon tourism, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has launched a gastronomy-led initiative to spotlight the state’s rich culinary heritage as a key attraction for visitors during July and August. Part of the ongoing #GlowOnArrival campaign, this culinary push aims to provide immersive and regenerative travel experiences by positioning Goa as India’s leading food destination.
Chaired by Shri Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, the planning meeting brought together key stakeholders including Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC); Shri Shawn Mendes, OSD to the Hon’ble Tourism Minister; Shri Gavin Dias, General Manager, GTDC; Shri Deepak Narvekar, Dy. General Manager (Marketing), GTDC; Shri Jayesh Kankonkar, Deputy Director of Tourism; and TTAG President Shri Jack Sukhija, along with representatives from the hospitality sector. The campaign will feature curated culinary events celebrating Goan monsoon delicacies, regional Indian flavors, and global cuisines, all prepared with locally sourced Goan ingredients.
According to Shri Kedar Naik, “This initiative aims to offer tourists a unique experience of Goa through its evolving food culture. From traditional monsoon recipes to creative fusion dishes, Goa’s culinary landscape tells a story of heritage, community, and innovation.”
As part of the larger #GlowOnArrival monsoon initiative running from June to September 2025, the state has introduced month-wise thematic campaigns: June focused on Goa’s vibrant monsoon festivals like Sao Joao and Chikhal Kalo; August will promote eco-adventure tourism such as treks and plantation visits; and September will culminate in celebrations around World Tourism Day, highlighting Goa’s historical, cultural, and natural attractions.
By integrating culinary storytelling into its tourism strategy, Goa aims to captivate travelers seeking authentic, sensory-rich experiences during the monsoon, reinforcing its reputation as a year-round destination.
