The Indian travel and tourism fraternity has come together in deep mourning over the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171 on June 12, 2025, in Ahmedabad. The accident, involving the Ahmedabad–London sector, has claimed numerous lives, sending shockwaves across the country and causing immense grief within the global travel community.
Prominent industry associations—including the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH), and the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI)—have extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased passengers, crew members, and others affected by the devastating tragedy.
In a solemn statement, OTOAI expressed profound sorrow, offering prayers for the departed souls and unwavering support for grieving families. “We stand in solidarity with those affected by this unbearable loss,” the association noted.
Ravi Gosain, President of IATO, described the incident as a “deeply shocking tragedy” that has rattled the travel and tourism sector. “This heartbreaking event has eroded traveler confidence and calls for a thorough investigation to uncover the causes and prevent future occurrences,” he said. Mr. Gosain added that despite the setback, IATO places strong faith in Air India’s capacity to uphold the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and compassion in its response.
The apex body FAITH echoed these sentiments, describing the crash as a national tragedy and calling for a transparent and timely inquiry. “It is a moment of collective grief for our industry. We support the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Air India, and all emergency response teams in their efforts to manage the crisis and support victims’ families,” the statement read.
Adding its voice, the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) also expressed deep anguish over the accident. In a message of condolence, TAAI stated, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of so many innocent lives. Our prayers are with the families of the victims, and we urge authorities to investigate thoroughly and ensure that air travel remains safe for all. We stand united with the aviation sector in this time of mourning.”
