IndiGo, India’s leading airline, will begin daily direct flights between Kolkata and Phuket starting December 27, 2024. This new route, IndiGo’s second direct service to Phuket after Delhi, will expand its network and cater to the growing demand from Indian tourists visiting Thailand.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed excitement about the expansion,“We are pleased to further expand our network into Thailand, from Kolkata, now adding a daily flight to Phuket in addition to the existing 11 weekly flights to Bangkok. With this new route, IndiGo will now operate 93 weekly flights between India and Thailand. Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, is known for its serene beaches and cultural diversity, and the country’s visa-free policy for Indian citizens is expected to drive even greater demand. IndiGo remains committed to providing an affordable, on-time, courteous, and hassle-free travel experience across our extensive network.”
Phuket, known for its beautiful beaches, rich culture, and favorable visa policies for Indian citizens, is expected to see increased demand from Kolkata, a major regional hub. The new service will also foster stronger trade, commerce, and tourism between India and Southeast Asia, with infrastructure projects like the Kolkata-Bangkok Highway further boosting connectivity.
Kolkata, known as the ‘City of Joy,’ is a cultural hub with significant historical landmarks, while Phuket offers tropical retreats with its stunning beaches and vibrant local culture. The new route will enhance travel options for those seeking the diverse experiences Thailand has to offer.
