Low visibility caused by winter fog and cold wave conditions continued to disrupt air travel across parts of north and east India on Saturday, prompting IndiGo to issue a fresh travel advisory for passengers.
In its advisory, the airline said flight operations at key airports including Amritsar, Chandigarh and Ranchi remain impacted due to fluctuating visibility levels. As a result, passengers may experience delays, rescheduling and longer turnaround times as operations adjust to evolving weather conditions.
IndiGo cautioned that departures and arrivals could be slower than usual, emphasising that all flight movements are being conducted strictly in accordance with safety protocols and visibility requirements. “Safety remains our top priority,” the airline said, adding that operational decisions are being taken in real time based on prevailing weather conditions.
Passengers have been advised to check their flight status regularly, allow extra time for airport procedures, and stay alert for updates on possible schedule changes. The airline also urged travellers to keep their contact details updated to receive timely notifications.
Dense fog during peak winter months routinely affects aviation operations across northern India, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. With weather conditions expected to remain unpredictable over the next few days, airlines are likely to continue operating with caution to ensure passenger safety.
IndiGo has assured passengers that ground teams are working closely with airport authorities to minimise inconvenience and restore normal operations as visibility improves.
