The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) has approved 55 public tourism infrastructure projects nationwide, representing an investment of approximately NIS 410 million. The ministry will contribute NIS 230 million to these initiatives, aimed at enhancing the visitor experience and boosting tourism.
Key projects include the development of heritage centers, promenades, parks, attractions, and biking trails. Notable highlights include upgrades to the Qasr al-Yahud baptism site, a walk-on-water experience in Ginossar, the Cave of the Patriarchs Plaza, an archaeological park in Beit El, the renovation of Jisr al-Zarqa’s aqueduct, and laser shows at Eilat’s marina and Jerusalem’s monuments.
In Judea and Samaria, the ministry has allocated NIS 22 million for projects such as accessibility improvements at the Cave of the Patriarchs, the scenic Jeremiah Route in Wadi Qelt, and a Psalms Trail segment in Mount Hebron.
Tourism Minister Haim Katz emphasized the dual focus on addressing evacuees’ needs while planning for future tourism development, particularly in Judea and Samaria, to highlight the region’s historical significance.
Tourism Director-General Dani Shahar noted the ministry’s evaluation process prioritized projects based on their potential to attract visitors, alignment with government policies, and long-term sustainability. The approved projects aim to diversify and enhance Israel’s tourism offerings, creating memorable experiences for both domestic and international travelers.
