The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is set to launch its fourth consecutive Skydiving Festival in the historic city of Ujjain, offering tourists a chance to soar from 10,000 feet and witness breathtaking views of the city’s landscape. Running from November 9, 2024, to February 9, 2025, this three-month adventure event aims to strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a prominent destination for adventure tourism.
The festival is part of a larger initiative led by Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts and Endowments Minister, Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, with guidance from Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, to diversify tourism activities in the state. Ujjain, known for its rich spiritual heritage, will be transformed into an adventure tourism hub with the addition of this festival.
Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, shared that the decision to return for a fourth year follows the success of the previous festivals and high demand from tourists. Skydiving enthusiasts will be able to enjoy daily flights from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Datana airstrip, with bookings available through the official festival website, www.skyhighindia.com.
The event organizers, Sky-high India, expect over 1,000 participants to attend. The company will use a specially modified Cessna 182P aircraft, certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the United States Parachute Association (USPA), capable of carrying up to six people per flight. Each skydiving round will accommodate two participants and two instructors, ensuring a safe and personalized experience.
Safety remains a top priority for this year’s Skydiving Festival. Operations will be managed by Sky-high India, with certified instructors assisting each participant to provide a secure and thrilling dive. The aircraft and safety procedures comply with stringent DGCA regulations, and all activities will be overseen by highly trained professionals.
The Skydiving Festival is one of several initiatives Madhya Pradesh has undertaken to expand its adventure tourism offerings. “Adventure tourism is becoming increasingly popular, and this festival allows us to showcase Madhya Pradesh’s unique attractions from a new perspective,” said Shukla. He hinted at future air-based activities as part of a broader strategy to attract adventure enthusiasts from around the world.
