Malaysia Airlines has unveiled a series of strategic expansions and product upgrades aimed at solidifying its position as one of India’s fastest-growing international carriers. The announcements came during a glittering gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai, attended by leading travel trade partners, aviation stakeholders, and dignitaries from both nations.
Malaysia Airlines is turning up the heat in India with new routes, modern aircraft, and a dash of culinary flair.
From December 1, Trivandrum will get daily flights (up from four a week), while Ahmedabad sees boosted frequencies in October. The airline is also rolling out its sleek A330neo fleet, promising the youngest, most modern network in the region by 2026.
“India holds a special place in our hearts,” said Group MD Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, noting that 80 weekly flights will soon connect 10 Indian cities to Kuala Lumpur. Add Malaysia’s 30-day visa-free entry for Indian travellers until 2026, and the airline’s Bonus Side Trip programme, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for travel demand.
“Our ties with India are built on shared history, culture, and enduring relationships. With full restoration of pre-pandemic capacity, we are committed to elevating the travel experience through superior cabin comfort, curated dining, and our hallmark Malaysian Hospitality,” he said.
For Indian flyers, it’s more than a journey — it’s a taste of Malaysian Hospitality from check-in to touchdown.
In a major fleet development, Malaysia Airlines confirmed the phased introduction of its new-generation Airbus A330neo aircraft on select routes, with the entire Australia and New Zealand network to be operated by the modern fleet by early 2026. The upgrade is expected to deliver enhanced cabin comfort, cutting-edge technology, and improved operational efficiency.
