Minister unveils tourism event calendar for Dakshina Kannada

Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, unveiled a coastal tourism event calendar for Dakshina Kannada district at an event organized by the Coastal Karnataka Tourism Development Council on Saturday last week.

During his speech, the minister highlighted that this initiative marks the first step towards boosting tourism in the district. He noted that Dakshina Kannada has potential comparable to states like Goa and Kerala and emphasized the need to enhance facilities for both local and out-of-state tourists.

Stressing the importance of maintaining law and order for tourism growth, the minister assured that the government would provide the necessary support for the sector’s development. He also mentioned that the state government is open to welcoming private investments.

Lok Sabha member Capt. Brijesh Chowta, who launched the web portal at the event, described it as a significant move for promoting tourism in the district. He stated that the portal would help showcase the district’s culture and diverse activities to a broader audience, and that the central government would also work towards developing tourist spots in the area, reported Mangalore Today.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan added that the Coastal Karnataka Tourism Development Council, in collaboration with the District Administration, aims to promote and enhance tourism in Dakshina Kannada. The event calendar features information about the district’s festivals and events throughout the year, which is expected to attract tourists year-round. He also mentioned that the web portal provides valuable information for tourists.
