Saudia, the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, has announced ambitious plans for fleet expansion and modernization, underscoring its commitment to becoming a global aviation leader and aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives. The airline is expanding its fleet through key agreements, including the acquisition of 49 fuel-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliners to bolster international connectivity and 54 Airbus A321neo aircraft, celebrated for their advanced technology, spacious interiors, and environmental efficiency. These enhancements aim to support Saudi Vision 2030 goals, such as increasing passenger capacity to 330 million annually, expanding the network to 250 destinations, and welcoming 150 million visitors and 30 million Umrah pilgrims by 2030.
In addition to fleet expansion, Saudia is investing in advanced technologies to redefine the passenger experience. Beginning in 2025, the airline will introduce newly designed Business and Economy Class seats on its Boeing 787s and retrofit its Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft with private Business Class suites, ensuring enhanced comfort and privacy. Saudia has also partnered with Panasonic Avionics to equip up to 30 aircraft with Astrova in-flight entertainment systems, featuring ultra-HD 4K OLED screens and personalized content. This state-of-the-art system will be installed on 12 Airbus A330s and 18 Boeing 777s by 2027, elevating the digital experience for passengers.
With these transformative initiatives, Saudia is poised to strengthen its global presence, enhance guest satisfaction, and play a pivotal role in realizing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions.
