Singapore Airlines and Emirates Announce Record Profits and Employee Bonuses

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced an eight-month salary bonus for employees following a record net profit of $1.98 billion for the fiscal year 2023-2024. SIA attributed its success to sustained demand for air travel, boosted by the full reopening of borders in North Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan.

SIA, crowned Best Airline in the World at the 2023 Skytrax World Airline Awards for the sixth time, credited its staff’s dedication for this achievement. CEO Goh Choon Phong praised the team’s sacrifices, stating it helped the airline emerge “stronger and fitter” post-pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Group also reported record-breaking profits, announcing bonuses equivalent to 20 weeks’ pay for employees, to be distributed with May salaries. Group Chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum lauded staff efforts, calling them the “driving force” behind the group’s achievements.

The Emirates Group’s workforce grew by 10%, reaching 112,406 employees across 84 countries, representing over 170 nationalities.

Both airlines highlight the significant rebound in global air travel demand and their exceptional performance in the post-pandemic era.
