Vietjet Doubles A330neo Order with Airbus to Boost Global Expansion and India Operations

In a significant move to strengthen its international expansion strategy, Vietjet has placed a new order for 20 Airbus A330-900 aircraft, effectively doubling its widebody A330neo fleet to 40 aircraft. The agreement was signed in Hanoi by Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and Wouter van Wersch, President of Airbus International, in the presence of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong and French President Emmanuel Macron during the latter’s official visit to Vietnam.

This long-term order is set to power Vietjet’s growth across the Asia-Pacific region, including a stronger presence in key markets such as India, while also paving the way for future long-haul services to Europe. The A330neo aircraft will enhance Vietjet’s ability to offer more flights on high-capacity routes and extend its global network with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao emphasized the airline’s commitment to sustainable aviation and international cooperation, noting that the new fleet aligns with Vietjet’s vision of delivering greater global connectivity and environmentally responsible air travel. She highlighted the role of Airbus aircraft in Vietjet’s journey and the broader goal of reinforcing economic and technological ties between Vietnam and France.

Airbus International President Wouter van Wersch praised Vietjet’s rapid growth and its choice of the A330neo as the preferred widebody aircraft. He reaffirmed Airbus’s support in helping the airline scale new heights while maintaining its hallmark of low fares and warm Vietnamese hospitality.

The A330-900 is powered by the latest Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and offers a range of 7,200 nautical miles (13,300 kilometers), making it ideal for long-haul operations. It features Airbus’s award-winning Airspace cabin, providing passengers with a superior travel experience marked by comfort, style, and ambiance. As part of its commitment to sustainable aviation, the aircraft can operate on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with a target of 100% SAF capability by 2030.

Currently operating an all-Airbus fleet of 115 aircraft, including 108 A320 Family jets and seven A330-300s, Vietjet also has 96 A320neo Family aircraft on order. In parallel with its fleet expansion, the airline is rapidly scaling up its international network. In March 2025, Vietjet launched new non-stop routes connecting Hyderabad and Bengaluru to Ho Chi Minh City, further strengthening its footprint in the Indian market. With 10 direct routes and 78 flights per week between India and Vietnam, Vietjet now operates the most extensive flight network between the two countries.

The airline’s A330 widebody aircraft are currently deployed on international routes to India, Australia, and Kazakhstan, offering enhanced comfort and premium service—especially in Business Class, where passengers can enjoy fresh cuisine and warm hospitality. The expanded A330 fleet will play a crucial role in Vietjet’s continued global expansion, meeting rising demand and delivering a world-class travel experience to passengers worldwide.
