IndiGo Launches Direct Daily Flights from Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah, Strengthening Connectivity to UAE’s Eastern Coast

IndiGo has announced the launch of its daily direct flights connecting Mumbai and Kannur to Fujairah, marking the airline’s 41st international and fifth UAE destination after Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah. This new route highlights IndiGo’s ongoing international expansion strategy and enhances its growing presence in the Middle East.

Fujairah, the only emirate situated along the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates, is gaining global recognition for its adventure tourism offerings, pristine beaches, and scenic mountain landscapes. The direct connectivity from India not only caters to rising demand among both business and leisure travelers but also comes at a time when Fujairah is collaborating with Ras Al Khaimah to launch the UAE’s first cross-emirate adventure trail, opening new possibilities for outdoor experiences for Indian tourists.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, stated, “We are pleased to commence daily direct operations between Mumbai as well as Kannur to Fujairah, UAE’s hidden gem known for its natural beauty and growing economic significance. Fujairah offers immense potential for trade, tourism, and business. With these flights, IndiGo now connects 20 Indian cities to the UAE with over 280 weekly flights, furthering our mission of global connectivity while offering affordable, on-time, and seamless travel experiences.”

Flight schedules have been strategically aligned with local bus services in the UAE to provide seamless connectivity between key emirates—from the cultural richness of Sharjah to the iconic skyline of Dubai and the natural beauty of Fujairah—ensuring a hassle-free travel experience.

Fujairah’s attractions include the historic Fujairah Fort, the ancient Al-Bidyah Mosque, and the Wadi Wurayah National Park, a UNESCO-recognized ecological treasure. The emirate is also a hotspot for water-based activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing, and it plays a vital role in global trade through its strategically located port along the Gulf of Oman, home to one of the world’s largest oil storage facilities.

The addition of Mumbai and Kannur as departure points reflects IndiGo’s commitment to enhancing international connectivity. Mumbai, India’s financial capital and a global hub of commerce, fashion, and entertainment, is known for its dynamic lifestyle and iconic cityscape. Meanwhile, Kannur in northern Kerala is famed for its cultural heritage, handloom weaving tradition, and unique art forms like Theyyam. With Kannur International Airport driving regional growth, this new route is set to benefit both tourism and business travel from the region.
