Noida International Airport (IATA: DXN) has officially announced the commencement of commercial passenger operations from June 15, 2026, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure expansion and opening a new gateway for the National Capital Region and North India.
The launch follows the airport’s inauguration by the Prime Minister and the approval of its Aerodrome Security Program, confirming that all operational, safety, and security systems are fully in place.
IndiGo will operate the inaugural flight, with Akasa Air and Air India Express expected to commence services shortly thereafter, signalling strong airline participation from day one.
In its first phase, the airport will operate with a single runway and a passenger terminal designed to handle 12 million passengers annually. Long-term plans aim to scale capacity to 70 million passengers, positioning it among India’s major aviation hubs.
Strategically located near Jewar in western Uttar Pradesh, the airport is expected to significantly ease congestion at Delhi’s existing airport while improving accessibility for travellers from NCR, western Uttar Pradesh, and neighbouring states. Its multimodal connectivity—integrating expressways, metro links, and regional transport networks—is designed to ensure seamless passenger movement and efficient airline operations.
Beyond connectivity, the airport is expected to act as a catalyst for regional economic growth, driving tourism, trade, logistics, and real estate development across the Yamuna Expressway corridor. Industry observers also see it as a key enabler for Uttar Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a major aviation and logistics hub.
Sustainability remains a core focus, with the airport committed to achieving net-zero emissions, combining global operational standards with environmentally responsible infrastructure.
The project is being developed and operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, under a 40-year concession agreement.
With its scale, connectivity, and future expansion roadmap, Noida International Airport is set to redefine air travel dynamics in North India while strengthening India’s position as one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally.
