IndiGo Announces New Direct Flights Connecting Delhi to Jorhat and Tiruchirappalli from September 2025

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has announced the launch of two new direct domestic routes, further strengthening its national connectivity network. Starting September 20, 2025, the airline will operate four weekly non-stop flights between Delhi and Jorhat, Assam. Additionally, beginning September 16, 2025, IndiGo will offer daily direct flights between Delhi and Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu. These new routes aim to boost tourism, facilitate trade, and support local economies in Northeast and Southern India.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, stated, “We are pleased to introduce exclusive direct flights from Delhi to Jorhat as well as Tiruchirappalli, reinforcing our commitment to expanding domestic connectivity and enhancing access across the country. These flights will provide affordable travel options while unlocking cultural, spiritual, and economic opportunities across these diverse regions.”

Jorhat, often called the “Tea Capital of Assam,” is renowned for its proximity to Majuli—the world’s largest river island—and Kaziranga National Park. It plays a crucial role in Assam’s tea industry and serves as a key agricultural and trade hub in Northeast India.

Tiruchirappalli, or Trichy, is a historic and industrially significant city in Tamil Nadu, known for landmarks such as the Rockfort Temple and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Trichy is also home to top educational institutions like NIT Trichy and is a growing manufacturing and transport center in South India.
