
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and fastest-growing carrier, has further strengthened its India operations by launching a new passenger route to Hyderabad. The new service, inaugurated on June 16, 2025, will operate thrice weekly, enhancing travel and trade links between Africa and India.
The inaugural flight from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport was marked by a grand ceremony attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and members of the aviation community. With this new addition, Hyderabad becomes the fifth Indian city to be served by Ethiopian Airlines, joining Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Chennai.
The flight schedule is as follows: ET 682 from Addis Ababa to Hyderabad – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. ET 683 from Hyderabad to Addis Ababa – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
Speaking on the occasion, Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are pleased to launch our new passenger service to Hyderabad. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to strengthening the deep-rooted ties between Africa and India. Beyond air connectivity, this route will facilitate robust trade and tourism relations between the two regions.”
Tasew also highlighted Ethiopian Airlines’ ongoing efforts to explore more opportunities across the Indian subcontinent. “As Africa’s leading airline, we aim to meet rising travel demand with world-class service and seamless connectivity, offering passengers more choices and convenience,” he added.
With over 50 weekly flights already operating to India, Ethiopian Airlines’ new Hyderabad service enhances its capacity to cater to growing passenger and cargo demand. The airline’s expanding footprint is set to boost economic cooperation, people-to-people contact, and tourism exchange between Africa and India.
