In a bold and forward-looking move, Tourism Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas is redefining Kerala’s tourism narrative—elevating it from a serene getaway to a vibrant hub for destination weddings and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. Speaking at the inaugural Wedding & MICE Conclave held in Kochi this June, the Minister outlined a compelling roadmap for the state’s tourism evolution.
“The conclave aims to position Kerala as a premier destination for weddings and MICE tourism by leveraging our unmatched natural beauty, cultural richness, modern infrastructure, and hospitality services,” he said, signaling a confident shift in focus.
The initiative is part of a larger post-pandemic revival plan that has already witnessed more than 1,000 destination weddings hosted across Kerala in the past year. But beyond statistics, Minister Riyas emphasized inclusivity and shared prosperity.
“From auto drivers to resort owners, everyone stands to benefit economically as Kerala grows into a wedding and MICE powerhouse,” he added, underscoring the potential for widespread economic upliftment.
This vision of growth is not without conscience. In parallel, the state is investing in sustainable infrastructure, such as the Kadambrayar Riverfront Development Project, which includes enhanced water-metro connectivity. While the Minister did not directly address this launch, the initiative reflects his ministry’s broader push for eco-sensitive tourism models that connect communities while preserving Kerala’s ecological balance.
Kerala has long enchanted travelers with its tranquil charm and cultural depth. But under Minister Riyas’s dynamic leadership, it is poised to become a global stage for life’s most celebrated moments—from weddings that fuse elegance with heritage to corporate summits framed by nature.
If this momentum continues, Kerala may well emerge not just as God’s Own Country, but as the world’s chosen destination for memories, milestones, and meaningful gatherings.
