Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights to Misrata, Expands Network in Libya with Third Destination

Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, has resumed flights to Misrata, Libya’s third-largest city, strengthening its presence in the North African market. Misrata now becomes the airline’s third destination in Libya after Tripoli and Benghazi. Flights, which were suspended in January 2015, will now operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using B737-78D aircraft. With this addition, Turkish Airlines now serves 62 destinations across the African continent.

The scheduled flight TK1145 will depart from Istanbul at 11:30 and arrive in Misrata at 14:25, while the return flight TK1146 will leave Misrata at 16:25 and land in Istanbul at 19:15, all local times. To celebrate the resumption, Turkish Airlines is offering special promotional fares for tickets purchased by September 9, 2025, with prices starting from USD 349 for Istanbul–Misrata and USD 249 for Misrata–Istanbul, valid for travel until November 30, 2025.

Mahmut Yayla, Senior Vice President of Sales (Region II) at Turkish Airlines, emphasized the airline’s commitment to connecting continents while strengthening historic ties with Libya. He noted that with Africa’s rising economic growth and demand for air travel, Turkish Airlines will continue expanding its gateways and diversifying routes to meet market needs.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, Misrata is a vital hub of industry and commerce in Libya, with the Port of Misrata serving as one of North Africa’s most important maritime transport centers. The resumption of flights is expected to boost connectivity, trade, and travel between Türkiye and Libya, offering greater convenience for both business and leisure travelers.
