In a major boost to Indo-China connectivity, China Eastern Airlines has resumed its Delhi–Shanghai direct service from November 9, 2025, operating thrice weekly. The relaunch marks an important step in rebuilding tourism and business links between the two Asian powerhouses after years of limited air traffic.
The airline will operate wide-body aircraft on the route, offering both business and economy class configurations tailored for long-haul comfort. The flight schedule aligns with onward connections to major global hubs via Shanghai, enhancing convenience for Indian outbound travellers heading to Japan, Korea, or the U.S. West Coast.
For India’s travel trade, this reopening presents a fresh opportunity to rebuild outbound itineraries and promote reciprocal travel between India and China — especially as visa policies are expected to ease gradually. It also signals the revival of MICE and educational tourism segments, both of which heavily depend on direct air links.
With this addition, China Eastern becomes the first Chinese carrier to resume multiple India services post-pandemic, reflecting growing optimism in bilateral tourism recovery and people-to-people exchange.
