Akasa Air is preparing to open an important new chapter in its network strategy as it begins operations from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) starting 25 December 2025. The airline will operate direct flights to Delhi, Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, giving travellers a new set of connectivity options from Mumbai’s second major aviation hub.
By choosing NMIA as an early base, Akasa Air signals its long-term confidence in the airport’s potential to ease congestion, improve flight reliability, and create a more balanced aviation ecosystem for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The move strengthens the airline’s west India footprint and places Akasa among the first carriers to shape NMIA’s initial route network.
According to the airline’s leadership, the Navi Mumbai launch is a strategic investment into the future of India’s air travel system. They believe the dual-airport model for Mumbai will not only support rising passenger numbers but also open up capacity for fresh domestic and international routes in the years ahead.
Akasa Air is also planning a strong scale-up from the new airport, with projections of 300 weekly domestic flights and 50 international departures as NMIA expands its infrastructure. The carrier aims to operate from ten parking hubs by FY27, signalling a broad-based expansion across the country. Internationally, the airline is eyeing destinations in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, tapping into segments where demand continues to rise.
With this step, Akasa positions itself as a future-focused player ready to handle India’s fast-growing travel demand. Additional offers, including promotional fares and app-based discounts, make upcoming NMIA routes more attractive for early travellers.
The Navi Mumbai launch marks a crucial milestone for the airline—one that strengthens national connectivity while giving passengers a new, modern gateway built for smoother, more efficient travel.
