The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has outlined a comprehensive strategy to enhance India’s standing as a leading global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination, following an interactive brainstorming session involving its Chairman, members, advisors and senior industry stakeholders.
The meeting marked a significant step in sharpening ICPB’s role as a national facilitator for convention and MICE growth, with participants sharing sector-specific insights and recommendations that will be integrated into the Bureau’s future planning.
A key highlight of the session was a detailed presentation by Chander Mansharamani, Vice Chairman, ICPB, who provided an overview of the Bureau’s current positioning and presented a five-year strategic roadmap, with a focused action plan for 2026–27. The roadmap aims to enhance ICPB’s impact, visibility and effectiveness in promoting India as a preferred destination for international conventions and business events.
Emphasising the need for stronger policy advocacy and structured coordination, the strategy places particular focus on data-driven decision-making and inter-ministerial collaboration.
Key Strategic Pillars Outlined
Economic Impact & Data Framework
ICPB proposed the creation of a structured mechanism to measure the economic contribution of the MICE sector. The initiative aims to strengthen advocacy efforts through credible data, helping policymakers and stakeholders better understand the sector’s value to the national economy.
Inter-Ministerial India MICE Board
The Bureau urged the Ministry of Tourism to facilitate the establishment of an India MICE Board, enabling coordinated efforts across multiple ministries and departments. The proposed body would support streamlined decision-making, infrastructure alignment and long-term policy consistency for the MICE industry.
Industry leaders present at the meeting highlighted the growing global competition for conventions and exhibitions, underlining the importance of unified national branding, infrastructure readiness and seamless stakeholder coordination.
With India’s business travel and events sector gaining renewed momentum, ICPB’s roadmap signals a shift towards a more structured, data-backed and policy-aligned approach to positioning the country as a serious global MICE contender.
