
The Ministry of Tourism (West & Central Region), Government of India, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), will organise a four-day Adventure Guide Training Programme and National Seminar in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from 17–20 March 2026.
The initiative aims to enhance safety standards, strengthen professional capacity and promote collaboration within India’s rapidly growing adventure tourism sector, supporting its safe, responsible and sustainable development.
Adventure Guide Training Programme (17–19 March)
The training programme is being supported by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) and Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board (MPEDB).
The three-day intensive training is designed for professionals involved in trekking, mountaineering and water-based adventure activities.

VIVO Healthcare
Will deliver modules on First Aid, CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS)
Training designed for remote and wilderness scenarios
Uses simulation-based medical training to handle life-threatening emergencies.
EKO India
Will conduct sessions on outdoor leadership and environmental safety
Modules include:
Risk mitigation strategies
Wildlife awareness
Snake rescue techniques
Bird identification
Managing human–wildlife interactions according to global safety standards.
Outcome of Training
Participants will gain practical skills in:
Trauma assessment
Wilderness medical response
Evacuation planning
Safety protocol implementation
This will enable them to act as trained first responders and responsible leaders in adventure tourism operations.
The programme will conclude on 20 March with a half-day Adventure Tourism Seminar themed “Adventure Strategy for a New Era.” The seminar will bring together tour operators, adventure clubs, training organisations, policymakers and industry experts to deliberate on the future of adventure tourism in India.
Key discussions will focus on strengthening safety frameworks and risk mitigation measures in adventure tourism, developing effective governance and regulatory frameworks for adventure activities, aligning Indian practices with international safety standards, and exploring the use of technology and artificial intelligence to enhance tourism experiences. The seminar will also examine policy support, investment opportunities and destination development required to drive the sector’s growth.
A high-level panel discussion will further facilitate dialogue between industry leaders and government representatives, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange on the sector’s future roadmap.
The event is expected to see participation from around 100 stakeholders, including ATOAI member operators, adventure clubs, training institutes, eco-tourism stakeholders and hospitality partners. Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board will also take part in the programme.
Through initiatives such as this, the Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI aim to strengthen capacity building, promote safety excellence and enhance industry collaboration, reinforcing India’s position as a globally competitive destination for safe and sustainable adventure tourism.
