SpiceJet continues Fujairah–India special flights amid West Asia aviation disruptions

Low-cost carrier SpiceJet is continuing to operate special relief flights from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates to India to help Indian nationals return home amid ongoing aviation disruptions triggered by the escalating conflict in West Asia.

According to the airline, three special flights were scheduled on March 15, including two services from Fujairah to Delhi and one to Mumbai. The carrier is also continuing additional flights on March 16 and beyond based on passenger demand and regulatory approvals.

The emergency services are part of a broader effort by airlines to assist passengers stranded in the Gulf after the regional conflict disrupted normal flight operations and forced multiple airspace restrictions.

SpiceJet’s special flights from Fujairah are primarily connecting passengers to Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi, key hubs for travellers returning from the UAE.

The airline said the flights are being operated to support travellers affected by cancellations and rerouting of regular services as tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States continue to impact aviation activity across the Middle East.

The UAE has witnessed missile and drone attacks since late February as part of the wider regional conflict, prompting several airlines to adjust schedules and avoid certain air corridors.

These developments have significantly disrupted travel between India and the Gulf region, one of the world’s busiest aviation corridors with millions of Indian expatriates travelling between the two regions each year.

Airlines including Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet have been adding extra flights and adjusting schedules to restore connectivity and assist stranded passengers.

SpiceJet indicated that additional special flights may be deployed if required, depending on operational feasibility and approvals from aviation authorities.
