FICCI’s Jyotsna Suri Highlights GITB’s Rise as India’s Premier Global Tourism Platform

Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson of the Tourism Committee at FICCI and a leading voice in India’s hospitality sector, underscored the growing global stature of the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) while addressing delegates at its 2026 edition in Jaipur.

Welcoming participants from across the world, she described GITB as a platform that has evolved significantly over the years—from a modest initiative into one of India’s most prestigious and internationally recognised tourism marketplaces.

Reflecting on its origins, she shared that GITB was conceptualised through a collective vision of key stakeholders and driven by strong commitment from its founding leadership. What began as a collaborative effort has today grown into a robust platform that connects global buyers with Indian tourism stakeholders, reinforcing India’s position in the global travel ecosystem.

She credited the consistent support of the Government of Rajasthan, under the leadership of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, along with the continued backing of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, for enabling the sustained success of the event.

Highlighting the importance of international participation, she extended a warm welcome to foreign tour operators, noting that their presence reflects strong global confidence in India as a destination—even amid a challenging geopolitical environment. According to her, tourism remains a powerful force that connects people, cultures and nations, regardless of global uncertainties.

She also acknowledged the role of industry stakeholders, partners and participants who have contributed to GITB’s growth journey over the years. Emphasising the business-oriented nature of the event, she noted that beyond networking and familiarisation experiences, the real momentum begins with structured business engagements.

Her address reinforced a key message: GITB is not just an annual event, but a long-term strategic platform that continues to strengthen India’s inbound tourism ecosystem through collaboration, resilience and global outreach.
