
Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a new Tree of Life resort in Wayanad, marking the brand’s entry into Kerala. The upcoming resort will be developed as a brownfield project and further strengthens IHCL’s expansion in India’s fast-growing leisure tourism segment.
The 55-room resort will be located overlooking the scenic Banasura Lake in Wayanad, one of Kerala’s most sought-after nature and wellness destinations. The property will feature an all-day dining restaurant, bar, swimming pool, spa, and a range of wellness and recreational facilities designed to cater to leisure travellers seeking immersive experiences amid nature.
Speaking on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, highlighted Wayanad’s growing popularity as a nature-led tourism destination. She noted that the Tree of Life brand focuses on authenticity-driven hospitality experiences that blend local culture, wellness, and personalised stays.
Saeed Edavankandy of Geeone Exports Pvt. Ltd. and Geeone International LLC expressed confidence that the project will further strengthen Wayanad’s position as a preferred getaway destination for domestic and international travellers.
Nestled in the Western Ghats, Wayanad is renowned for its lush green landscapes, biodiversity, waterfalls, plantations, and eco-tourism offerings. The region attracts travellers seeking adventure, wellness, and nature-based experiences, with major attractions including Banasura Dam, Pookode Lake, and the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary.
With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Kerala now stands at 23 hotels, including five properties currently under development. The move also marks a significant milestone for the Tree of Life brand as it expands into new high-potential leisure markets across India.
