Brussels Airlines has announced it will add three Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet by the summer of 2026, continuing its fleet renewal program. This expansion will bring the airline’s total number of A320neo aircraft to eight.
The A320neo, known for its fuel efficiency and environmental benefits, reduces CO2 emissions by up to 20% compared to previous models and cuts noise by 50%. Brussels Airlines plans to replace two older A319 aircraft with these new, eco-friendly planes, while the third will help expand the fleet.
The airline received its first A320neo in November 2023, marking the first time new aircraft joined its fleet. The additional A320neo aircraft are part of Brussels Airlines’ broader strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance passenger experience.
CEO Dorothea von Boxberg emphasized the benefits, stating, “By replacing older aircraft with the most fuel-efficient on the market, we reduce our environmental impact, expand our fleet, create jobs, and improve connectivity for Belgium. The A320neo also offers a quieter, more comfortable flying experience.”
In addition to sustainability, the A320neo features a new cabin design with ergonomic seats, adjustable lighting to enhance passenger comfort, and 40% larger overhead bins for more hand luggage space.
The first of the additional A320neo aircraft is expected to join the fleet by mid-2026, though the timeline may be affected by global supply chain delays.
