IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of Garner Jagdalpur, marking the brand’s entry into Chhattisgarh and strengthening its presence in India’s emerging hospitality markets.
The 117-key hotel, scheduled to open in 2029, will be developed by Freedom Hospitality and managed by United Hospitality Management, a key third-party operator for IHG in the country.
Garner, IHG’s midscale conversion brand, is designed to cater to value-conscious travellers, offering quality stays at accessible price points while leveraging the company’s global systems and operational standards.
Located in Jagdalpur, the property is expected to benefit from rising economic activity in the Bastar region, driven by infrastructure development, mining expansion and growth in small and medium enterprises.
The signing highlights IHG’s continued focus on tapping demand in India’s Tier-2 and emerging destinations, where branded hospitality supply remains limited despite growing travel and business activity.
Industry observers note that midscale and conversion-friendly brands like Garner are gaining traction in such markets, offering a scalable model for hotel owners while meeting evolving traveller expectations.
