LOT Polish Airlines, a member of the Star Alliance, is expanding its international route network with the addition of two new destinations that promise to attract Indian leisure and cultural travellers alike: Malaga in southern Spain and Marrakesh, the vibrant “Red City” of Morocco. These additions come as part of the airline’s broader strategy to enhance connectivity between Europe, North Africa, and long-haul markets like India.
Beginning 15 January 2026, LOT will launch year-round flights to Malaga, a major coastal destination on Spain’s famed Costa del Sol. Initially operating four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the frequency will increase to six weekly flights from 24 February 2026. Departures from Warsaw Chopin Airport will be at 10:20 AM, arriving in Malaga after a 4-hour 15-minute flight. Return flights from Malaga are scheduled to depart at 3:35 PM local time. These flights will be operated by modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft offering two classes of service.
Malaga, known for its Roman and Moorish heritage, sun-soaked beaches, and vibrant Mediterranean lifestyle, is an ideal destination for Indian travellers interested in art, history, and gastronomy. It is the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and home to multiple museums, cultural landmarks, and 16 Blue Flag-certified beaches. The city also caters well to vegetarians and food lovers, offering a wide variety of fresh, healthy Mediterranean cuisine.
Adding to its North African offerings, LOT will also commence seasonal flights to Marrakesh from 29 October 2025, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights will depart Warsaw at 9:50 AM and arrive in Marrakesh at 2:35 PM local time, with a flight duration of 4 hours and 45 minutes. Marrakesh, known for its iconic red sandstone buildings, offers Indian travellers a magical escape into Morocco’s rich culture. From the bustling Djemaa el Fna square with snake charmers, storytellers, and street performers to the maze-like alleys of the old Medina, Marrakesh offers a sensory experience like no other.
Both routes will be serviced by LOT’s Boeing 737-800 fleet, ensuring comfort and flexibility with dual-class cabins suitable for both leisure and corporate passengers. According to Amit Ray, Director for India, DACH Region, Italy & Malta and Head of Global Corporate and Strategic Sales at LOT Polish Airlines, “With Malaga and Marrakesh, we are continuing to expand our global route network. These destinations offer our Indian customers unique opportunities to experience new cultures, history, and landscapes through seamless connections via Warsaw.”
These new routes follow LOT’s recent expansions to Malta, Reykjavik-Keflavik, and the upcoming Thessaloniki route launching on 17 June 2025, further highlighting the airline’s commitment to global growth and offering exciting new travel options for Indian tourists planning trips to Europe and beyond.
