Skål International India Leads with Record Delegation at Skål Asia Congress 2025 in Colombo

Skål International India made a powerful statement of unity and leadership at the Skål Asia Congress 2025, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, by fielding its largest-ever delegation to an Asian Skål event. This historic participation reaffirmed India’s growing influence in the global Skål movement and showcased its commitment to advancing ethical tourism and business partnerships across borders.

On the sidelines of the Congress, the National Committee Meeting (NCM) of Skål International India took place on June 26 at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel, drawing presidents, secretaries, board members, and national representatives from clubs across the country. The meeting was marked by transparency, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions centered on youth engagement, sustainability, and responsible tourism.

Sanjeev Mehra, President of Skål International India, called the occasion “a movement in motion,” stating, “With a record presence at the Skål Asia Congress, India has not just shown up—we’ve shown the way forward.” NSN Mohan, Director – Region 10 (India) and Director – Finance, Skål International, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the collective effort behind India’s impactful presence and emphasizing the value of collaboration, ethics, and friendship in shaping tourism’s future.

A highlight of the meeting was the appreciation for the newly launched edition of KOTIN Magazine, Skål India’s official publication, praised for its content, branding, and communication excellence. The event also saw India’s continued global recognition through Skål Delhi’s standing as the world’s largest Skål club.

Adding to the celebrations, three distinguished Indian Skålleagues Shekhar Divadkar, Manoj Mathew, and Kuncheria Thomas were elected to key leadership positions in the Skål Asia Executive Committee for 2025–2027, strengthening India’s voice in regional decision-making.

With the Skål India Congress scheduled for September 2025 in Mumbai, national leaders are already mobilizing efforts to make it a milestone event. “We aim to build on this momentum,” said Mehra. “Our goal is to become the number one Skål nation before the World Congress.”

Skål International India extended heartfelt thanks to the organizers, including Skål Asia President Keethi Jayaweera, Congress Chairperson Sharmili, Skål Colombo President Ahintha Amarasinghe, and global Skål President Denise Scrafton, whose presence lent the event a truly international perspective. Special gratitude was also offered to hospitality partners Shangri-La Colombo, Taj Samudra, and Cinnamon Grand.

As the current leadership of Skål India approaches its first anniversary on July 6, the team reaffirmed its dedication to the Skål mission “Doing business among friends” and to expanding the movement with new clubs, countries, and opportunities, united in a spirit of ethical tourism, global friendship, and shared success.
