Union Minister inaugurates new daily Air India Express flight linking Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada

Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, inaugurated a new daily Air India Express flight connecting Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada at Visakhapatnam International Airport. The launch event was attended by Members of Parliament Kesineni Sivanath and Golla Babu Rao, along with Member of Legislative Assembly P.G.V.R. Naidu (Gana Babu).

The service, designed for convenience, will depart Visakhapatnam daily at 9:35 AM, reaching Vijayawada at 10:35 AM, with a return flight leaving Vijayawada at 7:55 PM and arriving in Visakhapatnam at 9:00 PM. These timings allow for seamless intra-state travel, enhancing accessibility between the two cities for business and tourism.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Naidu highlighted the importance of this new route. “The new daily flights between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada by Air India Express will serve the distinct needs of both cities—Visakhapatnam with its focus on industry and tourism, and Vijayawada, the capital, as the centre of administration and commerce. This service will enhance accessibility for business, education, and tourism, supporting economic activity and social mobility within Andhra Pradesh. I congratulate Air India Express on its rapid expansion across India’s domestic network, significantly enhancing connectivity to cities throughout the country.”

Air India Express has been expanding its operations to strengthen intra-state and national connectivity. From Visakhapatnam, the airline operates 28 weekly flights to domestic destinations like Bengaluru and Hyderabad, as well as Vijayawada, and provides one-stop connectivity to 21 cities across India, including major hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. It also connects internationally to Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh.

In Vijayawada, Air India Express operates 23 weekly flights connecting to domestic destinations such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Visakhapatnam, with one-stop connectivity to an additional 15 destinations, including Goa, Mumbai, and Varanasi. The airline’s only international connection from Vijayawada is to Sharjah.
