ICPB’s 38th AGM Reinforces India’s Vision to be a Global MICE Powerhouse

Reaffirming its commitment to positioning India among the world’s leading MICE destinations, the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) held its 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Taj Palace, New Delhi.

Dr. Poonam Rajput, Executive Director, highlighted that India’s MICE industry stands at a pivotal point amid global shifts, backed by strong infrastructure, skilled talent, and increasing international recognition. “ICPB remains committed to excellence, collaboration, and projecting India as a preferred global MICE destination,” she stated.

Mr. Chander Mansharamani, Vice Chairman, emphasized ICPB’s proactive efforts in capacity building and awareness for the sector. Following the success of ICPB’s inaugural training programme, he announced a new session in November focusing on ‘Marketing India as a Convention Destination’ and the bidding process. He reaffirmed ICPB’s alignment with the Ministry of Tourism’s vision for aggressive marketing, advocacy, and skill development to place India among the Top 20 MICE destinations globally.

Mr. Neeraj Dhawan, Treasurer, added that ICPB has recorded strong results over the past year, marking it as a benchmark for future initiatives. “We are accelerating our efforts to promote conferences, exhibitions, and incentive programmes across India,” he said.

The AGM also underscored the need for synergy between ICPB, the Ministry of Tourism, and state governments to create a robust MICE ecosystem. Discussions focused on training programmes, regional MICE hubs, and infrastructure enhancement.

With its diverse destinations, cultural depth, and growing infrastructure, ICPB is poised to strengthen India’s position as a formidable player in the global MICE arena. The 38th AGM marked a defining milestone in India’s journey to becoming a premier international MICE destination.
