AirAsia has issued a public advisory cautioning travellers about a growing number of fraudulent customer service scams targeting airline passengers. The airline warned that scammers are increasingly posing as AirAsia representatives and attempting to deceive customers through fake hotlines and unofficial support channels.
According to the airline, some fraudsters claim to offer assistance with flight bookings, ticket changes or refunds, often contacting passengers through phone numbers or online platforms that appear legitimate. AirAsia stressed that it does not operate customer support through unofficial phone numbers or third-party agents.
The airline clarified that all genuine customer assistance is provided only through its official channels, including the AirAsia MOVE app, the airline’s official website and its verified social media accounts. Passengers have been urged to rely exclusively on these platforms for any booking changes, refunds or travel-related queries.
AirAsia also warned travellers not to share personal information, payment details or transfer money to individuals claiming to represent the airline outside these official platforms. Fraudsters often request sensitive information under the pretext of resolving booking issues or processing refunds.
As part of its advisory, the airline encouraged customers to verify any communication claiming to be from AirAsia and to report suspicious activity directly through its official channels. The warning comes as travel demand increases, particularly during peak travel periods when scam attempts tend to rise.
The airline said the advisory is part of its broader effort to protect passengers from online fraud and ensure that customers interact only with verified and secure support platforms while managing their travel plans.
