In a significant move to strengthen its international network, Akasa Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Hanoi, marking its seventh international destination.
The new service will commence from September 4, 2026, with the airline operating four weekly non-stop flights on this route. This expansion underlines Akasa Air’s strategic focus on Southeast Asia—one of the fastest-growing travel corridors for Indian outbound tourism and business travel.
The addition of Hanoi comes at a time when Vietnam is witnessing a surge in popularity among Indian travellers. Known for its rich cultural heritage, vibrant street life, and scenic landscapes, Hanoi has emerged as a preferred short-haul destination offering both affordability and diverse experiences.
Commenting on the development, Anand Srinivasan, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the launch of direct connectivity to Hanoi reinforces the airline’s commitment to linking India with dynamic global destinations. He highlighted that Vietnam’s growing appeal among Indian travellers makes it a natural addition to Akasa’s expanding international portfolio.
From a strategic standpoint, the Mumbai–Hanoi route is expected to serve dual purposes—boosting tourism as well as facilitating stronger trade and business ties between India and Vietnam. Mumbai, being India’s financial hub, offers a strong base of both leisure and corporate travellers, making it an ideal origin point for this route.
The introduction of direct flights also addresses a key gap in connectivity. Until now, passengers travelling between the two cities often had to rely on connecting flights, resulting in longer travel times and higher costs. With Akasa Air’s non-stop service, travellers can now expect a more seamless and time-efficient journey.
This expansion is part of Akasa Air’s broader vision to steadily scale its international presence while maintaining its focus on reliability, customer comfort, and service excellence. The airline has been consistently adding new destinations to its network, positioning itself as a competitive player in both domestic and international aviation markets.
With Hanoi now on its map, Akasa Air continues to build a robust global network, offering Indian travellers greater choice and improved access to some of the most sought-after destinations in Southeast Asia.
