Akasa Air to launch Noida International Airport operations from June 16.

Akasa Air has announced the commencement of operations from Noida International Airport beginning June 16, becoming one of the first airlines to confirm scheduled services from the upcoming airport that is set to emerge as a major aviation gateway for the National Capital Region.

The airline will operate daily non-stop flights connecting the new airport with Bengaluru and Navi Mumbai — two of India’s most significant technology, financial and commercial centres. Commercial operations at Noida International Airport are scheduled to begin on June 15, with IndiGo launching services a day earlier.

Industry experts view Akasa Air’s entry into the airport as a major milestone in the development of India’s evolving multi-airport ecosystem, where large metropolitan regions are increasingly being supported by multiple aviation hubs — similar to airport systems in cities such as London, New York and Mumbai.

The launch is expected to improve connectivity for western Uttar Pradesh, Noida, Greater Noida and surrounding industrial clusters while also easing operational pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world. The new airport at Jewar is strategically positioned to support future passenger growth across the NCR region.

According to Akasa Air, the new routes are aimed at strengthening connectivity between NCR and India’s rapidly expanding economic centres while supporting the broader development of regional aviation infrastructure. The airline currently operates nearly 188 weekly flights across the broader NCR market.

The development also reflects growing airline confidence in the long-term potential of Noida International Airport. Apart from passenger services, Akasa Air has already partnered with the airport for the development of an aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility, signalling a deeper operational commitment to the new aviation hub.

In its initial phase, Noida International Airport is expected to significantly enhance passenger handling capacity in North India and improve connectivity for both business and leisure travellers. Aviation analysts believe the airport could eventually transform western Uttar Pradesh into a major logistics, aviation and commercial corridor over the coming decade.
