In a major boost to its global standing, Air India Express has secured a prestigious 4-Star World Airline Rating from Skytrax following the completion of its first-ever comprehensive audit. The rating, which is the highest currently attainable for a value carrier, marks a significant milestone in the airline’s ongoing transformation under the Tata Group and positions it just below the elite global 5-Star category. The Skytrax evaluation highlighted the airline’s successful efforts to align its onboard product with evolving customer expectations. Key factors contributing to the 4-Star status included the consistency of its airport services, professional cabin service delivery, and a robust fleet modernization program. Over the past year, the carrier has aggressively expanded its fleet to over 100 aircraft, with nearly two-thirds consisting of brand-new, fuel-efficient models. This induction has facilitated a tripling of its Net Promoter Score (NPS), reaching all-time high levels of customer loyalty. Addressing the recognition, Nipun Aggarwal, Chairman of Air India Express, described the achievement as a “meaningful validation” of the team’s disciplined focus on scale and guest experience. Aggarwal emphasized that the airline has built a unique class for itself by modernizing interiors, introducing hot meal ovens, and implementing structured service training across its staff. Currently, the airline operates more than 500 daily flights across a network of 42 domestic and 17 international destinations spanning South, Southeast, and West Asia. The recent network expansion, which included 12 new routes launched earlier this month, has strengthened its presence in key hubs like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. As India’s second-largest domestic and short-haul international carrier, the 4-Star rating provides a strategic foundation for the airline to compete globally on reliability and quality rather than price alone.
