Air India has announced the deployment of its flagship A350-900 aircraft for daily non-stop flights between Delhi and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Starting January 2, 2025, the A350 will also operate five times a week between Delhi and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This addition marks a major step in Air India’s transformation following its privatization, bringing a suite of premium services and cutting-edge amenities to travelers on this key international route.
With the introduction of the A350-900 on the Delhi-New York route, passengers will experience the airline’s refreshed interiors, featuring private suites in Business Class, an all-new Premium Economy cabin, an award-winning inflight entertainment (IFE) system, and enhanced meal services with newly designed serviceware.
This premium offering will bring Air India’s recently launched Premium Economy experience to travelers between Delhi and New York for the first time, with 24 extra-legroom seats in a spacious 2-4-2 configuration. Business Class on the A350 boasts 28 private suites in a 1-2-1 layout, each featuring a full lie-flat bed, direct aisle access, sliding privacy doors, and personal wardrobes. Air India now stands as the only non-stop carrier between India and the U.S. to offer such privacy-enhancing suites in Business Class.
Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO & Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion of the A350 fleet to North America: “The A350 is not just another aircraft for Air India; it is a symbol of the ‘new Air India’ that is emerging through our Vihaan.AI post-privatization transformation program. Guest feedback on the aircraft and new customer experience has been exceptionally positive since it was launched on the Delhi-London Heathrow route in September, so we are excited to now bring it to New York.”
Passengers can look forward to more than 3,000 hours of entertainment content available on HD screens with Panasonic’s latest-generation eX3 IFE system, offered across all cabins in 13 international and 8 Indian regional languages. Enhanced onboard amenities also include bedding and amenity kits from Ferragamo and TUMI, exclusively designed for Business and Premium Economy passengers, respectively.
The airline is also preparing to launch inflight connectivity on international A350 flights in the coming weeks, enabling passengers to stay connected via Wi-Fi on their personal devices.
