IntrCity SmartBus has set new benchmarks in inter-city travel in 2024, achieving significant milestones in passenger service, technology integration, and network expansion. Serving nearly 20-25 lakh passengers annually, the company witnessed a 60% surge in summer travel demand and a 20% increase in year-end holiday bookings compared to 2023.
To cater to this growth, IntrCity added nearly 150 new services in 2024, upgrading 80% of its fleet to brand-new buses, offering enhanced comfort and reliability. Building on this momentum, the company plans to expand its fleet by 50% in 2025, focusing on improving connectivity across key states like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
The network’s growth aligns with India’s rising stature in the Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024, where the nation ranks 39th out of 119 countries. IntrCity also noted evolving travel trends, with leisure destinations like Goa, Kerala, and Manali maintaining steady popularity, while spiritual destinations such as Katra (Vaishno Devi) and Ayodhya emerged as the fastest-growing segments.
Advanced bookings during the extended holiday season (December 20–January 2) saw a notable increase, reflecting greater planning by Indian travelers and improved capacity utilization. Concert tourism also became a significant driver, with music enthusiasts booking trips for events. Upcoming international acts like Coldplay in early 2025 indicate a bright future for this segment.
With ambitious plans for 2025, IntrCity aims to continue redefining inter-city travel in India by prioritizing comfort, reliability, and innovation, solidifying its position as a leader in the mobility sector.
