Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya on Monday organised a commemorative programme marking the 93rd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda along with celebrations of International Museum Day 2026.
The event witnessed participation from visitors, scholars, students, and cultural enthusiasts who explored a specially curated exhibition dedicated to the former Prime Minister’s life and political journey. The exhibition featured rare photographs, archival documents, and personal belongings associated with H. D. Deve Gowda, offering a glimpse into his contribution to India’s democratic and political landscape.
As part of the International Museum Day celebrations, the museum also showcased ethnographic objects from its collection, highlighting India’s diverse cultural heritage and the importance of preservation. Two short films — one on the museum and another on H. D. Deve Gowda — were screened at the Parichay Gallery during the programme.
Officials said the initiative was aimed at strengthening public engagement with India’s political history and museum heritage while encouraging younger generations to connect with the country’s democratic legacy.
The commemorative displays and screenings attracted considerable visitor interest throughout the day, with attendees appreciating the effort to preserve and present significant moments from India’s political history.
