The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace Appoints Somanath S. Biradar as Director of Engineering

The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace has announced the appointment of Mr. Somanath S. Biradar as its new Director of Engineering, further strengthening the hotel’s leadership team with a seasoned professional bringing over two decades of extensive experience in hospitality engineering and facility management.
In his new role, Mr. Biradar will be responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations at the hotel. His mandate includes driving operational excellence, ensuring safety and sustainability standards, protecting assets, and leading long-term infrastructure planning to support seamless guest experiences.
Mr. Biradar brings with him more than 20 years of hands-on experience across leading international hotel brands. Prior to joining The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace, he served as Director of Engineering at The Westin Pune. His career also includes senior engineering roles at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Renaissance Bengaluru Racecourse, and several Accor Hotels across India. Internationally, he has held multi-property leadership responsibilities in Portugal, Spain, and France with Muthu Hotels, where he managed hotel operations, renovations, and new development projects.
Widely respected for his strong technical acumen and people-centric leadership style, Mr. Biradar has deep expertise in electrical systems, HVAC, chillers, boilers, energy management, and building safety systems. He has successfully led large-scale renovation initiatives and complex engineering operations while delivering practical, results-oriented solutions.
An alumnus with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mr. Biradar also holds certifications in occupational health and safety, environmental management, food safety systems, and energy management. His professional journey has been recognised with several industry honours, including Chief Engineer of the Year and Best Guest Service Award.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Biradar said that he looks forward to strengthening engineering systems that enhance guest comfort, safety, and overall experience while supporting the hotel’s long-term operational objectives.
